Well America I am moving this coming thursday to Crested Butte Colorado to work at Big Al's Bicycle Heaven, and i'm pumped!
Since i gotta finish the week off partying and riding and working I'm trying this new thing out called planning ahead and pre-packing, awesome. I have not gotten the hang of it yet considering im consisdered by some the last second kid, awesome.
So i woke up and chugged coffee then sat down to play on my computer, thats what i would like to call gettin it done.

PS ... also pumped that i used two forms of the word CONSIDER as close together as i did...... AWESOME!

Well recently i have become in possesion of a trek Mountain trak with small horizontal drops ... so what did the bike geek in me do, create a Mountain fixed gear bike .... AWESOME. So this morning i took it out for its first ride in the dirt with the help from the Tricats .... AWESOME. Oh yea let me just add in here one more time ... AWESOME. No brakes no brain and no problem having a great time.

Well America, I have completed a Feat Of Strength. I did my first solo 24 hour race .... It was by far the hardest thing I have ever done, and thanks to the best sponsors in the world because i could not of done this with out them.

Team Gatling Gun ...

All in all I preformed better than i could have ever expected. I did 13 laps which equals 221 miles.... and ended in 7th place.
I rode all 24 hours and enjoyed almost every suffering minute. I went through ups and downs tears of joy and sadness.... AWESOMENESS was at an all time max.

24 hour home base ...

now that the race is over im in recovery mode. its been just over a week and im still feeling the effects of the race ... especially in my knee which is not very happy with me right now leaving me unnable to ride for a while .... so im taking a few off of the bike hoping to get back to the throttle soon so i can get back to doing what i do best ... shred!

Well here in Tucson, the shire, it has been raining for two days in a row. Awesome for some warm rainy mountain biking. There is nothing like thrashing around all wet on the trails, it makes you feel like your alive just like when i was young and playful and full of wonderment.

Trying New Things....

Tonight team Super Mega Awesome went to Yoga class......we showed up super late and had to sit front and center, mega akward considering Gatling Gun had never done this before, but ended up doing some awesome stretching!

This was my first trick of the night severely impressing not only all the ladies and the instuctor but also the highly trained ninja lurking in the shadows!

The purpose in team super mega awesome doing yoga is to broaden our horizons physically so we can hone in our mind and racer like bodies ..... ha ha ha ha sorry that last sentence i threw in as a joke ...... this is me laughing histerically at what i just wrote by the way.... HA HA HA HA i can't even take myself serious!

anywho the greatest challenge i had tonight besides not cramping because of the four hour ride i did today and not checking out all the beautiful sweaty women but was finding ways to not rip AZZ in the middle of yoga .... mission yoga ... success!

Well it's been a very exciting past couple of days. It started off with a sweet group ride at the 24 course with the felllows from the shop, we thrashed and ripped in all kinds of ways inbetween waiting for Brain to fix his flats.

Everyone took turns scredding especially Richard the Tokin ripped a few on the cross bike. Very impressive...

Chris Ramathorn won the award for the most carnage, from both pilling it up on the 7 bitches and being attacked by the killer cholla. Hats off to him because it really takes a man to break down and cry out in pain infront of his friends, although sobbing for as long as he did was considered excessive...heck i had one stick on me that night and I was completly fine and took it - no pain style!

After a great night ride I followed up the next day with another awesome shred at the chutes with Free Jibbin Kyle. We ripped on the street bikes hardcore style!

Gatling Gun got lots of good riding this week America just to follow it up with an explosive Halloween. A shop policy we have at Fair Wheel Bikes is that we don't service electric motored bikes, and for a good reason. Well Ralph decided against this the other day, and so being the owner we said nothing. Friday before lunch we were charging the battery for the electric powered bike when, in the words of Coach Louter, BOOM! The dang ole engine battery blew up in the shop. Well to keep the short story short, after knocking over an old lady and two children and throwing a puppy on the fire to smoother it I was the first out the door. We had a few fire trucks, who were not as responsiver as a NC volunteer fire department member, but none the less took care of the fire and we were back to work in about and hour and a half! Hell yea...

PS - no one was hurt in the fire at the shop except for the old lady and the two children i pushed out of the way to escape the fire, and we are not sure what happened to the puppy!

Hello America, today I participated in an event held by the AES, Arizona Endurance Series, called the rocky road 50/50. A 50 Mile mtn bike gnar sesh followed by a 50 mile road ride. I headed it out with my new bike on the back of the truck, Redline Conquest Team, and ole faithful . I got there about 5:15 and we headed out at 6, we had a small group of three but we were all eager to shred. We climbed and powered through some rough terrain i had yet to see in tucson. It was awesome.... We ended on what was referred to as Milagrosa a true Gnar Bone. Story Short I rode for almost 6 hours, about two with out water, 50 miles 3 packs of shot blocks, and didn't even attempt to start the road part of the ride due to cramps and dehydration, yes I had to DNF. It was a fun ride none the less I was just a little unprepared i feel. The rest of my day I have spent rolling around in bed and on the couch infront of the TV trying to recover.......

It was a hella ride!

Hey America how is it going? I know it has been a short while, but your brother here has been busy in ole Tucson. As we all know back to school has gone by and man does it fell great to not be in the swing of that thing again, even though i will miss the Brevard Parties, me and Greenies! Any who back to school here has been choas to the max, it was so crazy we even had a few late nighters building cruisers for the kids. Although we did have a little fun with it as well...

Finally the weather has been getting nicer and nicer i can actually say we have had some beautiful days and more to come. With great weather comes great biking, so i have been schredding more and more and loving every minute of it. On my days off i have actually had the chance to get some 5 hour rides in although 2 parts road and 1 part mountain, its still getting my ride on. We all know what happens when i ride, AWESOME!

The only problem I have out here is the snakes they are everywhere, literally everywhere. I have had several run ins with rattlers, the key is to ride as fast past them as possible, and that is how i have learned to avoid any sticky situations if you know what i mean. Although the snake are scary i enjoy the company of the tarantulas, they are awsome to watch!

Took the old single speed out for a little 50 year trail action, my favorite place to ride in Tucson. I meet up with Danemeister faceplant the shop downhill extrodinaire for a little gnar sesh. He showed me the good lines we even saw a gila monster, sick brah. We ripped and shredded, just the normal carnage for a couple of extreme dudes. Sucks that the ride had to end though, cause that just ment it was time to head home and get ready for work. Sundays are nice cause they are short lets you get in late and leave early that way you can get some good riding and hanging out time, you all know im just Living The Dream!

(Scenario 1) Player A arrives late at practice. Upon arrival the nearest player to player A, which is player B, will bring the issue to attention. If player A holds grudges to player B for holding Player A accountable, any other player of the team should intervene in support of player B.

(Scenario 2) During the game player A has the ball. Player B is covering 8 yards behind player A on goal side. The decision selections are: penetration, deep ball, reload or play outside. Because player B is not under pressure and has the best view, player B must decide the best course of action. Player C, the second closest player, facilitates through reinforcement and feedback/learning process after action.

2. is an act of duty Ability involves responsibility; power is duty. With power there is a duty of leadership to oneself and to others. A person who is committed to the team will pay attention and provide feedback to how his teammates can do better.

He advices about which play to make. He assists others in spacing and molding. He concerns himself about the well-being of teammates. He includes bench players. He holds accountable when his team can do better. He offers support to the ideas of others.

3. to bond two or more persons together Successful performance is not as much decided by talent and individual effort as it is supported by a group of players. Therefore with a group most time and effort is focused on communication of plans and evaluation. Good communication is the hardest skill to develop, thus the team must learn first how and when to communicate.

4. to obtain the objectives While the big picture is winning the championship, accomplishing the small objectives will get you there.

What consistent support do you need around you to play the ball? When penetrating which four players provide cover? Who plays zone and who plays man marker? How and when will we double to win the ball? What time do we arrive before a game and train as a team together? How do we warm-up? Who has the freedom to explore creatively?

There are several reasons why players resist leading. One, they are afraid what they are saying is wrong. Two, they assume if it is important somebody else will lead. And, three, they assume if nobody else is saying something apparently it was not a problem at all.

The benefits of leadership are: First of all, you have peace of mind that you did everything you could have done. Second, you become more knowledgeable as to what leadership style is effective and what is not. Third, you revealed who is motivated who is not. Fourth, you enhance the level of commitment and thinking of the team. Finally, you help the team accomplish objectives.

Well America, me and S-Works the gnome are finally in tucson and it's hot, not figurtively but literally hot. It took me and S-Works two and a half days to make the drive. It was 2090 miles from Sycamore to Fair Wheel. It was a relief to finally get here and now its time to get to riding and L I V I N G. Although I am glad and excited to be here I already miss the Carolinas! Here are some pics from the trip!

Well howdy America! I just got back from bike school in Colorado and had a blast playing with bikes. It was a long three weeks of fun riding and lots of knowledge for my pea sized brain. It was amazing the detail that we had to get into and the length and precision that john barnett had gotten into in teaching us how to be proper bike mechanics. Now that I am back from colorado its time to pack up for my next adventure.........

First of all I would like to introduce my newest friend to you America. He had no name the time I first meet him, but he had the spirit of an old friend so I gave him a name of names. S-Works the Gnome!

I first found S-Works in the bushes at my parents house in NC while I was doing yard work. He was rummaging around eating shrooms and playing with the lady bugs. He is a jolly good fellow. He likes to eat drink and be merry, and is full of laughs. S-Works is partial to Helen Keller jokes, he finds them painfully ironic and hilarious! Anyways he is joining me on my adventure to Tucson Arizona to work at a bike shop called Fair Wheel Bikes. S-Works has been more than helpfull in planning and helping me pack for the trip.

S-Works has been uber helpful to me, and we are really excited to be getting on the road ASAP! Who knows what kind of shinanigans we will get ourselves into!

Me and the boys took a last minute road trip to do some mountain bike racing in Florida, wierd huh! Nothing but good times, top priority - KEEPING IT REAL! We all finished our race, enough said. Jenna Walker hyphen Bales joined us for the race, I wanna Give a shout out to her mom for hooking it up with the feeds so HOLLA! It was a whirl wind of a trip, now that we are back in the Hood of Brevard it is time to get ready for our next adventure, who knows!

the weekend started off with a saturday morning road race in Greenville SC with the Boys. Pinnitt Bennett got fourth, Gatling Gun the work horse finshed 6th, I spelll my name with one M Jimy got 7th, and Horse Jockey was off the back. Not the best showing but we still had three in the top ten. KOP, king of pisgah, came later for some action and finished fifth. The race was a neat course finishing on a big hill climb where Pinnitt's father Danger Dan was posted taking glamour shots of the Sycamore Team. We stopped at Crackel Barrell on the way home for a Gangsta Hopping good time. Upon returning through the Hendo to Brevard, I packed up to head to Greensboro for a night with the sponsors. We hung out with some other parts of our family and did some family bonding Applebees style. The next day I tried going on a mountain bike ride from my sponsors neighborhood to Burmil park. It was an interesting trail, pretty flat and rooty with a lot of down trees and a lot of bridges.

My ride was cut short due to a flat making me walk a few miles to meet up with the sponsors who graciously morphed into my support team to pick up the pieces of my ride and return me home.

So far my mountain biking in Greensboro have been a flat and a race i got lost during about a year ago, hopefully third time will be a charm. Until then keep it upright!

Well it has been an interesting couple of days, full of all kinds of emotions some good some bad and some ugly. The RBR boys had a long weekend so thursday and friday were full of none stop fun in the sun, killing it up and down ridgeline. Saturday headed down for a road race in greenvile SC with Horse Tamer, I spell my name with one m Jimy, Pinnitt, and myself Gatling Gun. We ended up finishing 1 2 3 4, Awsome. We were all super stoked to have finished that way. Me and Pinnitt and Jimy were still ready to ride so we hit up some long branch and caney bottum action when we returned. Sunday was an all day'er in Dupont for myself, meeting up with Pinnitt half way through my day. The rest of Sunday has been blurred out of my memory, but I was woken up on monday by the best damn sponsors a guy could have. They will pick a guy up off the floor and sober him up and put a smile on his face with no problem. I have learned a lot about myself in the past few days and got some much needed motivation. Well went to Greensboro for the weekend to visit with the family. Got to hang out with my two sponsors, my aunt and uncle, and my world traveling ultimate playing cousin and his so called caffine addicted wife. Luckily I got up early enough saturday morning to get a ride in around my parents huge new neighborhood. It was a lovely day all in all. Sunday I spent my whole day riding, AWSOME! I first rode reasonover to airstrip, the new jumps are stupid, laural ridge to minemountain. I was accompanied by the all famous I spell my name with one M Jimy and Pinnitt. It was a low key good time. Afterwards I dropped Pinnitt back at his house and I headed out to Pisgah for a little Caney Bottum action, and it straight hooked up. It was the first time in a long while I got to just go out and ride and ride until I was tired and it felt amazing. Now it's time to get another week over, I am Jonesing for another weekend. Oh and great news for myself, I am going back to school! Hooray! Bike mechanic school in Colorado Springs for the entire month of May. I am super stoked and ready for something new and exctiing, and I think that this will fill the void. OHHH, Back to school, Back to school, To prove to Daddy that I'm no fool!

tonight for the group ride we did the big M and north slope, and we had a good crew. It was the first time in a long time I have felt strong and good on a bike in a while. Been riding a lot, but not hard core. It felt great to feel like a real bike rider again. Hopefully this streak continues. It has been hard getting used to this whole job thing the 8 to 5 during some manual labor. I have been doing a lot of cool things, did you know Jesus was a carpenter just like me. Being responsible and grown up has definitly taken a toll on the level of awsome in my life and I need a jump kick of it. Does anybody know where one could get awsome in a can, i need a case.

well it was an extra special tuesday night group ride cause we had the specialized demo fleet to play with. So everyone piled in the trailer like little kids on xmas morning picking out our rides for the night. I decided to go with pitch a 6 inch travel bike, which turned out to be an awsome ride. everyone else chose carbons bikes, cheap pieces of plastic yuck who would want one of those. We eneded up riding twin falls loop on a warm winter night, thank you global warming! Half way down Jimmy Ate World by pulling a Dave Hall and cutting his knee open. Luckily my WFR skills were availible to use so we fixed him up as best as possible. Don't worry folks i think he is going to live. All in all and awsome time with the guys.

The worst thing that could happen finally happened, I killed my best friend by backing into Moldova's car the other night. I was on the way to go night riding with Pinnitt and BOOM! I have had a hard time knowing that I am responsible for what happened to S-Works. Why though, why....Why did he have to go away from us, why like that. Not now he was to young to die. Well now the only thing to do is keep him in our memories, because he was an amazing friend to us all. Luckliy I have been busy with work so I have not had time to think about him and how much I miss him. They told me to have a day off of work, but what would I do if I did that. Sit at home and think about what had transpired over the past few days, NO! Well thanks to all the friends who have helped me through this. King of Pisgah, gave me an old stumpjumper frame to replace S-Works. We put a lot of the old parts from S-Works on the stumpjumper. I guess if you try to look at the silver lining you see with death their is new life. I already see a lot in the stumpjumper that reminds me of S-Works, and that brings a much needed smile to my face. Well anyways, next time your on the trail riding with your bro's don't forget to stop and have a moment of rememberance for S-Works because we all know riding was his favortie thing to do. Be Young, Be Foolish, and Be Happy!

Well today was my first day in what some may call the real world. I got a job doing construction work. Up at the butt crack of dawn to slave for about 9 to 10 hours a day, man I really wish that guy from pivot cycles would just call and give me a job. Anyways the day went by pretty fast because we were busy the whole time, which is good for me. After work me and the guys gathered for a night ride full of AWSOME. We went out to Dupont for some ridgeline fun. It was an awsome end to a landmark day in the life of Gatling Gun. Thank God I have S-Works to help me through the rock gardens.

I decided to take the day of from not working and go for a cold ride with my boy S-Works. We meet at the fish hatchery for some caney bottum action. We took it easy and had a blast, singing the new hit song Scraper Bike all the way up and down the trail. There was still snow on the ground and a few ice patches that almost sent me sliding to the ground. It was about 30F during the ride so it was a cold one. It was amazing out there in the snow. I took a few mental images to share since I did not have a camera availible. So close your eyes and imagine, images will be sent to you through telekenisis. All in all it was a great ride, fun in the woods. Then it was to the shop to hang out wiht the boys. Another great day in Pisgah!

A Christmas Story!

Well lets see. . . Went home to Suffolk for the last time, we spent the holidays moving to Greensboro NC only after recieving the same book for christmas two years in a row. We were joined by the Pinnitt Brotha's, the Motley Crue, and Sexy for the move. After driving a huge truck back and forth between houses we got my parents stuff put into a storage unit, they will be moving into the new house on the 18th of the new year. After a good time moving the Motley Crue peaced out like a freight train and the Pinnitt Brotha's joined sexy and myself, Gatling Gun, for a party fulled night in chapel thrill. Me and the Pinnitt Brotha's mounted up and partied up and straight rocked out with our cock out. We ended up in some techno dance club with sexy and some other ladies. ALRIGHT. After dancing holes in our socks we headed for some midnigght time out grill where we got our munch on only to return to our host house at 4 o'clock in da moarnin'. The next day we took it easy in Chapel Chill, just taking in the sights. It was a great visit, checking out one of the coolest bike shop i had ever seen, Performance, where I proceded to forget to flush after my constitutional, OOPS! Well anyway, we are all back in the 828 to bring in the new year. Deciding not to go on the group rode ride, I called up ole S-Works and we fired up long branch with sexy only to realize this is going to be another epic year in the lives of Gattis and The S-Works.

Week till i graduate. Went to florida for motocross awsomeness. Saw sweet wrecks and crashes. Awsome red bull freeness, i had like 60 in a week and took 40 for home. Built Lemco Eddie pump track still wroking it in. Pinnitt hit a 20 foot gap on his bike. Did i mention i am about to graduate. We got Xbox 360 and Halo 3 soo video gaming is back in the hobby list. riding bikes is fun. S-Works has a bad tire and waiting to feel better before S-Works starts riding again. And Kyle hit a parked trialer on his bike .... AWSOME. Oh yea one more thing Julius Peppers is missing his pants so if anyone knows where they are he really wants them back.

Well me and S-Works have been really busy latly, doing a lot of riding and hanging out with friends. Because of this i have not had a lot of time to catch up with my blogging about our crazy times. So here is a recap . . . Well Thad "squirrell" Walker got married and is now mr Bales. We got into a good time after the wedding. Pinnit got aquiated with a nice young lady. We went on a ride the next day on ridgeline. It was a new trail that they had just done. We had a great time. Went back the next day and owned the trail, both me and S-Works. We killed it. The next day we did some pump track and Captain America crashed and had a visit with ER. He had 11 stitches to the face, and looks like he was a victim of a butt whooping... Now you are at homeostasis with my life. I am getting ready to head out of town for a few days to do some flagging for a motocross race. So i am about to have some awsome in my life, but what is new. Well I am headed out. I have a date with a can that has been hiding all my life in the back of the fridge. LATER SUCKERS!

Well it was a rainy day and me and S-Works had nothing to do because it was fall break. Ahhhh! Finally a monday were we could sleep in and kick the empty cans from the night before around the house. We finally got a little inspiration to go out and do something. Me and S-Works packed our rain gear and headed to the shop to hang out with the fellows and then later go for a ride. After a while of doing nothing at Sycamore we finally geared up and headed out with a smile on our cold wet faces. We hit up thrift and came down black mountain then back up thrift and down Sycamore cove. It was wet and muddy and full of AWSOME! It was a good bit of awsome that i needed to spark my day cause when i got done and got back home all i had waiting for me was a pile of laundry and dirty dishes, where is sexy when you need her! She left me for a few days for family sickness, but she will be back they always come back! OH YEA!

well the team went to tennesse for a race put on by vanderbilt. We got to stay with the .com's, and it was pretty sweet because i had a queen size bed to myself unlike most races we go to i have to cuddle with Danny I am Really Tall. Anyways it was in the 90's all weekend so racing was no fun at all. I finished 9th in short track and 8th in cross country which makes me kinda happy because all year i have just wanted to at least have on top ten finsih and so now i have had three. HEll YEA! Although this weekend it really hit me in the face all the racing we have been doing, and i am spent on it. My friend S-Works even noticed a difference in my attitude at the race this weekend saying i seemed to not be enjoying riding my bike like normal. So i am comming to the conclusion i need to get that smile back on my face while riding/racing. The season is almost over and it is seeming like more and more of a stretch that i will be able to go to nationals which is not fair to the amount of work and effort i have put into this season, but it will almost be over and seasonal trails open on the 15th so its about time to hit up long branch and have a good ole time on the trail of the year. so in the mean time STAY CLASSY AMERICA!

Well the brevard cycling team went to LMC for a weekend of racing. All went well as we raced our little hearts out trying to get points to go to nationals, being a goal of mine since this will be my last semester racing collegiantly. here are some of the stats from the race weekend.

It was an awsome weekend lots of wrecks. I crashed harder and more this weekend than i have in a long while. I didnt even qualify for dual slalom because i washed out really hard, and wrecked mulitple times practicing for the DH, and was even wrecked 4 different times in the short track. It was a lot of crashing and my body is really feeling it. On the other hand i got to finally race the S-Works which was awsome, even though i was spent after racing all weekend and only had a mildly decent xc race, but none the less it was fun. Herndog and Pinnit tagged a long and sessioned the DH and Slalom course with me which was awsome and helpful for me. Showed me some good lines and great times, and made me laugh in the xc when i was ready to cry. STOPPING WRITING FOR A MINUTE TO SIGH! all in all it was awsome good times with bikes good friends and good laughs at the crashes we had. I feel that this weekend was the race of 1,000 crashes for me, i guess i should be lucky i am still walking after all the abuse i went through! AWSOME STUFF!

Well myself and Chris Pinnitt Bennett, Tim the freshmen, Danny i am really tall, Tristan team america soon to be captain america, Charlie the dog, and Herndog decided to do a little pump track. We did the normal kill session on the track, tristan team america soon to be captain america was killing it cross country style it was awsome. He was even to fast for the cameras! All in all we had a good session getting cut off by the dark. We had it all from sweet speed laps to loop outs, mine especially loopy nearly breaking my back i hit so hard.
